Filter-free adaptation to the ambient light

The revolutionary Keldan 8XR Ambient 18,000 lm compact video light utilizes our unique ambient filter system that seamlessly matches artificial and ambient light and takes it to the next level by eliminating the need for a filter. The 8XR Ambient’s LEDs emit light in the spectrum equivalent to ambient light at a depth of 6 m (~20′), with a luminous flux (lumen value) that is almost double that of a standard 8XR 20,000 lm with external AF6B filter.

Ready for wireless control

The 8XR Ambient is compatible with the powerful RC1 wireless remote control. The RC1 can be connected to an unlimited number of luminaires in two groups and enables precise power control at distances of up to 50 m (~160′). Regardless of whether the lights are mounted on the camera or not, the remote control enables faster and more precise control, resulting in longer effective run times.

Extensive coverage

With a soft and even beam angle of 110º in the water and a natural-looking light fall-off, the light from the 8XR Ambient blends seamlessly into the existing natural light, without any hard edges or uneven areas.

Compact, intelligent design

Designed specifically for traveling videographers, the 8XR Ambient has a minimal footprint that only adds 0.87 kg (~1.9 lbs) to your kit. Underwater, each light has a manageable weight of 0.3 kg (~0.66 lbs), which can be easily balanced with buoyancy arms.

Field-tested and robust

Keldan lights are the first choice for professionals all over the world due to their reliability and extreme durability. The LED is virtually unbreakable and has an almost unlimited service life. Thanks to an integrated thermal protection circuit, the light can even be used in the air without the risk of damage due to overheating, as the light automatically adjusts the output to keep the temperature within a safe range.

Travel-ready Li-ion battery system

Designed for travel and use in the most demanding locations, the proprietary battery for the 8X system has passed the UN38.3 safety test required by IATA, which means it is certified for air transportation. The capacity of the battery is also below the maximum permissible value of 100 Wh. Additional safety is provided by the integrated protection circuit, which protects against harmful influences such as over-discharge, deep discharge, overcurrent or short circuit.

Intelligent information display

Integrated into the battery and clearly visible during use through the transparent back cap of the light are both a visual battery indicator, where each bar represents 10 %, and a runtime countdown, which shows the remaining time at the current power level. When connected to the charger, the display shows the remaining charging time and the charge status of the battery.

The AFA 3 W filter converts the spectrum into a 3 m equivalent 10,000 K white light for very shallow water or for macro photography. The AFA 12 B filter converts the native spectrum into a spectrum that corresponds to a depth of 12 m, so that the light spectrum with the AF 12 B filter corresponds to a white light. Please note that all other available ambient filters are not compatible with the Video 8XR Ambient 18000lm.
