Workshop topics

Macro basics

Capturing the little things in the big picture. There are many great macro motifs in underwater photography, whether in a lake or in the sea. Learn the basics of macro photography so that you can take good photos without any detours.

  • You will learn about the equipment required for macro photography.
  • You will learn about the technical aspects of macro photography.
  • You will learn the correct use of flashes and light in macro photography.

Creative macro photography

In addition to classic and natural macro photography, you can also make a macro photo very creative. From the use of snoot with flash or lamp, with white or colored light. Or using aids for a bokeh in the background that looks different.

  • You will learn about the equipment required for macro photography.
  • You will learn about the technical aspects of macro photography.
  • You will learn the correct use of flashes and light in macro photography.

Half & half shots

A photo with a view of both worlds – this is possible with a half-half or split level shot. The two media of air and water pose additional challenges for the photographer.

  • You will learn which equipment you can use to take great half & half shots.
  • You will learn how to create exciting half & half shots.
  • You will learn the technical implementation of half & half shots.

Close Focus Wideangle

Close focus wide-angle photography is a very special underwater photography technique. It combines macro photography with fisheye photography. The result is amazing photos that will amaze everyone.

  • You will learn about the requirements for your equipment and the subject.
  • You will learn the photographic realization of Close Focus Wideangle photos.
  • You will learn how to take and design exciting Close Focus Wideangle photos.

Super macro

This workshop teaches the next step in macro photography. The main focus will be on working with close-up lenses and what needs to be considered when using the equipment.

  • You get to know the equipment you need.
  • You will learn how to use close-up lenses.
  • You will learn how to use the flash correctly with super macro.

Black Water

Black water is a very special type of underwater photography. Small creatures are photographed during a night dive in open water. Depending on the location, creatures come to the surface from the depths that can only be photographed in this way. The workshop will teach you how such a dive works and how to get good photos quickly.

  • You will learn what black water photos are and how they are created.
  • You will learn about the difficulties and how to overcome them.
  • You will learn what equipment and diving skills are required for black water photography.

Wide-angle basics

Wide-angle photography allows you to capture the full splendor of the underwater world in one photo. There are different requirements depending on the scene you want to photograph underwater. Light plays a central role here.

  • You will learn which equipment is suitable for wide-angle photography.
  • You will learn how to take photos with mixed light, flash and ambient light.
  • You will learn how to create wide-angle photos.

Slave flash - A to Z

Underwater subjects and entire scenes can be illuminated differently with placed slave flashes than with flashes on the housing alone. This can range from one to several placed flashes. Depending on the number of flashes and the location, this means more effort and needs to be well planned.

  • You will learn what equipment you need.
  • You will learn how to work with the slave flashes and how to design a photo.
  • You will learn how to plan and carry out an appropriate dive.

Wipe and long exposure photos

The smudge images that you still see from time to time are blurred in a circle. But you can also blur in other ways to create a photo with this interesting effect. You can also experiment with long exposures under water in a very playful way.
In this workshop, the group and the workshop leader will approach these topics experimentally.

  • You learn technical basics.
  • You will learn how to make smudge pictures.
  • You experiment with wipe and long exposure photos in the group.
